from the I Got the Hook-up! soundtrack (No Limit/Priority, 1998)

The N.O. Joe produced “Bump & Grill” is one of a handful of tracks that were originally recorded during the Ridin’ Dirty sessions, but ultimately left off of the album for whatever reason. Since UGK weren’t going to use it, Joe decided to use it for his own album* that was in the works at the time. Unfortunately that album never saw the light of day, which again stalled the track’s release. It eventually wound up appearing on the soundtrack to I Got the Hook-up!, the first theatrical release from Master P and No Limit Records.

While the rare verse from Joe makes “Bump & Grill” notable by itself, it’s also notable for another reason: it shares the same Barry White sample with “Simply Beautiful,” a track that Pimp C produced for Sleepy’s Theme—an alias for Atlanta, GA production super-team Organized Noize**—for their album The Vinyl Room (also a ’98 release).

*”Time” by UGK and Twista was another track meant for this mythical unreleased album.

**Sleepy’s Theme was actually just ONP member Sleepy Brown’s own thing and not an alias for the entire crew. My bad for such an erroneous statement, and thanks to Maurice Garland for pointing that out in the comments.
